Job Description:

The Student Employment Office is a newly created office charged with overseeing the administration of Swarthmore College’s Student Employment Program. The Student Employment Office seeks its inaugural Director of Student Employment in a full-time role to oversee the Student Employment Office and the Student Employment Program. The College recently completed a study by a campus working group that recognized the opportunity to prioritize the College’s program and implement a stand-alone Student Employment Office led by a Director of Student Employment, a one-stop shop/office that will serve as a human resources office for student employees and student employee supervisors (administrators and faculty who hire student employees on campus).

Essential Responsibilities

Act as the point of contact for all questions related to student employment, including counseling students and student supervisors.

  • Engage in a full immersion of assessment of the student employment program, working with colleagues and clients to assess the effectiveness of the student employment program services, policies, and practices to drive continual improvement.
  • Administer JobX and Dynamic Forms, the two primary data systems that control the student employment program.
  • Manage Student Employment Office student directors who assist the Director in running the student employment program.
  • Oversee compliance of the Federal Work Study program.

Qualification:

Required: Bachelor’s degree Five (5) years of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Proficient with software database systems. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and/or the Google Cloud equivalents. Preferred: Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a business-related field. Experience as a hiring manager within the field of finance, human resources or a business administration environment. Human Resources experience, employment law, income tax regulations, or SHRM certifications. Higher education experience, specifically related to campus-based employment or financial aid. Familiarity with Ellucian Banner or other campus-based ERP, SQL, NextGen JobX or Dynamic Forms, Handshake.
