Job Title: Associate Director of Financial Aid – Student Services and Outreach
Work Schedule: Full-Time
Salary Range: $70,654 – $89,252
FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary
The Associate Director assists in the development, implementation, maintenance and overall administration of federal, state and institutional financial aid programs.  Provides financial aid and financial literacy information to students, parents and the community through various workshops and financial aid nights.   Works closely with Admissions to provide financial aid outreach to assist with recruiting efforts to ensure students are aware of the availability of federal, state and institutional funds to assist with paying for college.  Responsible for supervision of financial aid assistants.  Reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides supervision and evaluation for part- and full-time financial aid assistants.
Presents financial aid & financial literacy workshops & seminars.  Represents Financial Aid Office at college nights, presentations given off campus and in collaboration with other sites and departments on campus.  Assist with recruiting where needed.
Ensures the financial aid staff uses various communication tools and methods to provide excellent student-centered communications to current and prospective students.
Responsible for packaging of federal aid and certification of private educational loans.
Responsible for administration of the Federal Work Study program in conjunction with Career Services including supervision and training of Federal Work Study students in the Financial Aid Office.
Responsible for review of professional judgement cases including but not limited to SAP appeals, dependency overrides and special circumstances.
Provides counter and telephone support as needed.
Assumes responsibility for management of the financial aid office in the absence of the Executive Director.
Represents the office as-needed both internally and externally.
Develops and maintains an operations and procedures manual for this position.
Performs specialized projects, duties, and/or functions as assigned by the Executive Director of Financial Aid.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a business management, accounting or communications or other related field from an accredited institution.   There is no other substitution of experience for education permitted.

Certifications

Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

Work Experience

Two to four years of financial aid experience in a higher education environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Must demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors:  public speaking, teamwork, cooperation, initiative, high level of accuracy, analytical and problem solving skills, excellent organizational, written and oral skills, and ability to work in an office with frequent interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with a networked environment such as the Ellucian Banner software and MS Office Suite is strongly preferred.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
