Financial Aid Counselor
•First point of contact and the primary counselor assigned to advise and conduct outreach to prospective families on financial aid application procedures and financial aid options.
•Independently manage the Federal Pell Grant Program and the certification of outside State scholarships.
•Responsible for updating the financial aid website, financial aid publications and the Net Price Calculator.
•Provide support with managing the Pennsylvania State Grant Program.
•Provide support to the Associate Director with awarding financial aid to students in the School of Professional Studies.
•Routinely check the College’s compliance in consumer reporting.
•Support and perform the packaging of financial aid applications for prospective and returning Elizabethtown students (populations to be determined by the Director of Financial Aid), including performing verification, making professional judgment decisions, monitoring academic progress, determining eligibility for all federal, state and institutional aid programs based on needs analysis criteria, and making financial aid award offers.
•Advise students/families on financial aid application procedures, available funding, financial management and budgeting practices.
•Provide financial aid information through presentations (open houses, orientation programs, high schools, workshops, scholarship receptions, and other on and off campus College events).
•Mentor and back up Financial Aid Assistant and Administrative Assistant.
Bachelor’s degree is required; plus 1-3 years of experience in financial aid; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency with Powerfaids and Jenzebar strongly preferred. Strong, student-based counseling proficiency and service. Comprehensive understanding of Federal Title IV regulations and Federal Title IV financial aid processing systems (COD, NSLDS, etc.) Bilingual a plus.
