Q: Tell us a bit about your professional background—how long have you been in the higher ed space, and what’s your day-to-day like at Ascent?
A: I bring over five years of experience in the higher education space, with a strong focus on access, equity, and student success. I currently serve as a Relationship Manager at Ascent Funding, where I support the strategic growth of our college lending division. My day-to-day includes engaging with financial aid offices, identifying opportunities for lender list expansion, collaborating cross-functionally with our Marketing and Product teams, and helping to develop resources to better support both students and institutions.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working in higher education?
A: What I enjoy most is being part of something bigger—helping students access the resources they need to pursue their education and long-term goals. Every conversation with a financial aid officer reminds me that our work has a direct and meaningful impact. I’m passionate about creating partnerships that simplify financial decisions and remove barriers for students from all backgrounds.
Q: What’s one thing you value about being a part of the PASFAA community?
A: PASFAA brings together professionals who are truly committed to student success. I value the strong sense of collaboration and shared purpose. It’s a community where ideas are exchanged openly, challenges are addressed collectively, and members genuinely support one another. Being part of PASFAA keeps me informed, inspired, and connected to the evolving landscape of financial aid.
Q: Who has been a significant role model in your career, and how have they influenced your journey?
A: My former boss at an NGO was one of the most significant role models in my career. He exemplified resilience, faith, compassion, honesty, and integrity. He consistently encouraged me to strengthen my skills, believed in my potential, and challenged me to grow. His mentorship played a pivotal role in shaping my confidence and direction. More recently, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible leaders in the financial aid and education access space who model what it means to lead with empathy, purpose, and a student-first mindset.
Q: When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
A: I love spending quality time with my two children, cheering them on in their school and extracurricular activities. I also train regularly with a running group and enjoy participating in half marathons. Traveling is another passion—especially exploring new cities in the US other countries. I’m particularly excited about my upcoming trip to El Salvado in 2026, as it will be my first time visiting Central America.
Q: Tell us the three most-used apps on your phone—it could be for social, work, productivity, or games!
A: The most-used apps on my phone would be:
- Google Calendar – It keeps me (and my family) organized and on track.
- Microsoft Teams – Essential for staying connected and collaborating with colleagues.
Apple Music – Music helps me stay centered, whether I’m gearing up for the day or winding down in the evening.
