Job Description:

The Associate Director of Financial Aid assists the Director of Financial Aid in overseeing a comprehensive financial aid program consisting of institutional, federal, state, and private funds exceeding $60 million annually. This individual is expected to be knowledgeable about the Title IV regulations to other staff, students, and parents. Responsibilities include assisting the Director in the administration of federal student aid programs, private student loan programs, packaging, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing information and counseling to students and parents regarding all financial aid programs.

 

Essential Elements
Responsible for the administration of the Federal Direct Loan program, including transmissions, reconciliation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Counsel and advise students regarding loan options and financial awareness of student debt.
Responsible for the administration of the Federal TEACH Grant program, including transmissions, reconciliation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Responsible for Return to Title IV calculations.
Administers private student loans and maintains historical lender list for private education lenders.
Supervise summer financial aid processing.
Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of the Title IV financial aid programs.
Supports all facets of the daily operations of the Office of Financial Aid, ensuring compliance with college policies, state, and federal laws, and regulations.
Able to research and interpret federal and state regulations and convey difficult concepts to all stakeholders.
Presents financial aid information at admission, orientation, and loan counseling sessions.
Participates in recruitment events on and off campus.
Serves on institutional committees as required.
Conducts in-service training of professional and clerical financial aid staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification:

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred, and 5 years’ experience with the administration of federal student financial aid programs. Preference is given to candidates with knowledge of the Federal Direct Loan Programs and experience in utilizing electronic data exchange with the U.S. Department of Education. Experience with current technologies in financial aid processing software along with federal and state processing databases desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential.
