Job Description:

The Office of Financial Aid at Penn State Altoona invites applications for a Financial Aid Coordinator (Enrollment Services Specialist 3) to provide service to our students and families and assist in the administration of financial aid.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus one year of related experience, preferably in higher education financial aid administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional years of experience is preferred. Excellent writing, oral, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Experience with Financial Aid databases is preferred.

The Financial Aid Coordinator reports to the Director of Financial Aid within the Office of Enrollment Management.

The financial aid coordinator is an integral member of the recruitment team. Typical duties include:

Maintaining a strong working knowledge of federal, state, and University financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures
Providing telephone, email correspondence, in-person, and virtual advising to students/families regarding financial aid
Managing the Federal on-campus, Nittany Lion Reads, and community service work-study programs
Providing administrative support to campus scholarship program, and financial aid support to the study abroad program
Working closely with admission counselors to recruit and yield students at admission events, presentations, campus visits and individual appointments
Collaborating with the Registrar and Finance offices
Providing phone support for the Office of Student Aid (University Park) during high volume periods
