Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid supports the Director of Financial Aid with the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid assists in implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the U.S. Department of Education, FERPA, state, and college regulations and policies. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid provides excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders of F&M in order to recruit and then retain students towards their graduation from the College.

Provide effective, timely and accurate financial aid counseling to assigned enrolled and prospective students and their parents.  Monitor the office’s email account and respond to incoming emails.  Assist, as needed, with incoming telephone calls; provide accurate and timely follow-up to callers.
Process and oversee federal financial aid programs, including, but not limited to: PELL Grants and SEOG, while managing daily ISIR correction files.
Complete federal and institutional verification of need-based financial aid applications and materials for assigned portion of students.  Participate on the Financial Aid Appeals Committee.
Maintain current knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to the financial aid process, and apply such knowledge to processes and procedures.
Monitoring the Federal Work Study Program and student employment earnings for over-awards.
Work collaboratively with campus colleagues (Academic Departments, Student Account Office, Registrar Office, ITS, Advancement, and other campus offices) and external partners to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial aid funds to students.

Qualification:

The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential. Minimum 3 years of experience working in a college/university financial aid office. Bachelor's degree required Proficient in MS Office software, databases programs and Google Suite apps Experience with PowerFAIDS Financial Aid software preferred but not required Excellent communication skills are critical to this role
