Job Description:

The Financial Aid Counselor of Student Financial Planning assists with planning and coordination of financial aid programs, services and office operation. This position also oversees the federal grant programs, endowed and annual scholarship programs and federal student loan programs.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for awarding, counseling and processing all aspects of financial aid for upper-class returning students. This includes reviewing & calculating needs analysis of the FAFSA, renewing award packages, as well as meeting one on one with students & families and counseling them on the financial aid process and affordability of the College. Must have a working knowledge of Federal, State & Institutional regulations for processing aid.

Accountable for processing & disbursing all Title IV Federal (Pell, SEOG, Teach) Grants. Also responsible for processing, disbursing & reconciling all Federal Direct loan funds with the US Department of Education, as well as the Juniata College Bursar’s Office. This position is responsible for processing withdrawals of current students and the return of Title IV proration of funds.

This position is responsible for daily processing of electronic file import/exports from the Department of Education, Slate, Power-Faids and Colleague. It is also the primary liaison for monitoring special programs such as Eagles Abroad Scholars, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and assists the Admission office with processing prospective international awards.

Accountable for processing & awarding Juniata College Endowed/Annual Scholarship, as well as serve as the Bursar’s Office liaison for the Financial Planning Office.

Qualification:

Knowledge and abilities normally acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. Two years of progressively responsible experience in financial counseling or other student counseling sufficient to demonstrate competency with PC software for managing financial aid or loan programs, accounting and loan, loan management, personal finance counseling and public speaking.
