Student Loan Specialist

Thiel College is seeking a Student Loan Specialist to oversee the evaluation, approval, and disbursement of financial aid awards to students in accordance with federal, state and institutional policies. Responsibilities will include meeting with students to assess their financial need and provide information to students and parents about financing options. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the Federal Direct Loan program as well as alternative funding sources.

Responsibilities:

Provides advice and counseling regarding available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements, the application process and college resources to students and parents in-person, by phone, zoom, and via email.
Adhere to all institutional, state and federal guideline and regulations, including FERPA.
Utilize computer programs for reporting, tracking, monitoring and to process, record, retrieve and verify data financial aid programs.
Communicate effectively while dealing with sensitive information and challenging situations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
