Financial Aid Counselor
The Gettysburg College Office of Financial Aid is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor. The position is full time, approximately 37.5 hours per week, reporting to the Director of Financial Aid. The successful candidate will display excellent customer service skills including, but not limited to interactions with students and parents on the telephone, in person, and in writing; providing counseling to students and families regarding financial aid eligibility, types of student aid, application procedures, student budget development, debt management and other consumer information as it relates to student financial aid and the College. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. At least five years of financial aid experience and working knowledge of Title IV regulations or equivalent experience within a higher education setting (preferably at a liberal arts college) is highly desired. Experience with PeopleSoft is highly desired. The successful candidate should have excellent demonstrated abilities to: integrate appropriate communications into the financial aid effort providing creative support to the office; work as a team player being responsive to office needs/goals; have a strong customer service focus and philosophy; ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations; analyze technical data and respond appropriately to findings; learn new software applications; communicate extremely well both verbally and in writing; handle a variety of detailed tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy; meet deadlines successfully; work well under pressure and have the ability to diffuse difficult situations. This position is best suited for someone who prefers a fast-paced environment, adapts to change, is highly organized and actively engaged with students and has a willingness to develop new skills.
