Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Financial Aid Counselor/Assistant Director of Financial Aid.

Job Details:

  • Location: F&M Campus – Lancaster, PA
  • Classification: Full-time / Exempt
  • Schedule: 40 hours, Monday – Friday.
  • Reports to: Director of Financial Aid
  • Department: Office of Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Counselor/Assistant Director of Financial Aid (ADFA) supports the Director of Financial Aid with the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. The ADFA assists in implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the U.S. Department of Education, FERPA, state, and college regulations and policies. This position provides excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders of F&M in order to recruit and then retain students towards their graduation from the College.

Essential Functions:

Counsel parents (families) and students in understanding and resolving enrollment issues. Provide excellent customer service to students awhile counseling them on financial aid needs and concerns.
Responsible for the administration of specific financial aid program areas.
Student financial aid file review and verification.
Support the Director of Financial Aid to develop, vet, and implement policies and procedures in accordance with the U.S. Department of Education, FERPA, state, and college policies in order to ensure regulatory compliance in all areas of financial aid including distribution, audit, and reporting requirements especially as it pertains to our PowerFAIDS software. Supports the DFA to ensure required federal, state, and institutional financial aid related reports and applications are completed accurately and timely.
Work collaboratively with campus colleagues (Academic Departments, Student Account Office, Registrar Office, ITS, Advancement, and other campus offices) and external partners to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial aid funds to students.
Support the Director of Financial Aid to develop and coordinate activities related to enrollment and retention of students with campus colleagues.
All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • At least 1 year of related experience with Financial Aid services.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • At least 4 years of related experience with Financial Aid Services.

Additional Information:
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, Pennsylvania ACT 153 background clearances, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
