About DRI:

The Don Raley Institute started in 1982 as the “Summer Institute” and was renamed in honor of Don Raley in 1998 who created the event and ran it for many years. Over the years, the Don Raley Institute has been a mainstay of PASFAA’s training repertoire and has been a fun way to onboard many new financial professionals over the years.

The Don Raley Institute is geared towards brands new financial aid professionals in their first year of the profession. The registration fee is $495 and includes two overnights in a personal air-conditioned apartment, breakfast, lunch, and refreshments each day. For attendees who do not need overnight accommodations, the registration fee is $350. Presentation topics include; financial aid basics, the application process, student eligibility, verification, cost of attendance, packaging, direct loans, loan repayment, professional judgment, Pell, SAP, PHEAA programs, and more. Don Raley is also a great place to meet some new friends, build connections outside your school, and commiserate with others who understand the trials and tribulations of financial aid!

PASFAA thanks our 2024-2025 Tier 1 Business Partners for their support!

Many thanks to the committee, faculty, business partners, and participants who make the Don Raley Institute a successful event every year!

PASFAA’s “Summer Institute” was renamed in Don Raley’s honor in 1998.  Don Raley served as the Director of Financial Aid of Dickinson College from 1977-1998. His retirement was only temporary as he returned to aid part-time at Lutheran Theological Seminary until June 2003 when Don finally hung up his financial aid hat. Don was an active member of PASFAA having served on various committees and Executive Council. He was PASFAA’s Vice President from 1982-84 and President during 1985-86. In 1998, the PA Financial Aid Training Program renamed the beginner’s “Summer Institute” as the “Don Raley Institute” in honor of this distinguished gentleman and longtime host of the program.
